Romans 5:1-5
Trials and tribulations are good things. We usually think of them as bad, but they really aren't. They are actually blessings because they build perseverance in us--a critically important personal quality we all need. We need perseverance to get through life, serve God faithfully, and, ultimately to bring glory to Him. We'll never grow strong or amount to anything for God without perseverance. So praise God for the tribulations in your life. Thank Him for each one, because they produce perseverance in you, which, in turn, develops your character. The building of your character, then, causes you to grow in hope--in your confidence in God and in all of His promises. Hope changes your thinking, increases your faith, and will never disappoint you. It will never disappoint you because hope is rooted in God, and the more you get to know God, the more you come to realize that there is nothing in God to be disappointed with. God is supra-phenomenonally "more than enough for any need that you might have" (to borrow a theme from one of Chris Tomlin's popular songs) and He has taken His love and poured it into you by the Holy Spirit. Wow! Your life is filled to overflowing with God's love through the direct action of the Holy Spirit who resides in your heart. Now that's something to get excited about!
